We may be unusual in that we have not only subscribed to the Lynch Sales experience and had an extra member of staff for a month, but we have also had a ‘lodger’ for a month as well. As he was a long way from home and we had a flat available above the shop, it seemed sensible to offer him accommodation on site. Although we are a family business and are dedicated to the cause, Daren Spencer our man from Lynch Sales, put us all in the shade with his commitment and enthusiasm.
After 2 years of declining sales figures we have reversed the trend in style with over 30% of annual sales in less than a month, spent under 6% on marketing, and maintained a decent profit margin. We have also benefited greatly from Daren’s great experience by improving our floor layout and advice on purchasing, including introducing us to some new suppliers. The sales figure for July is probably 2.5 times what we would have achieved with our normal sale, which makes it our most profitable month in 16 years of trading. The only problem we have is: we will be able to cope with the avalanche of furniture heading our way?
