Gentlemen,
After receiving solicitations in the mail for over thirty years, the time finally came when we needed the services of the Lynch Sales Company for our Ethan Allen Store Closing Sale. Tom McDonald, a former colleague from our old days as Marketing Reps with Ethan Allen Inc., was our Lynch Sale Conductor. Observing Tom’s performance in managing the sale is testimony to his seasoned experience and skill.
Handling the sales personnel. We were down to three Sales/Designers (one was traveling in Europe) and our staff was a bit curious and nervous. Before his arrival, Tom received our e-mail containing eleven important questions. He answered some of these by return e-mail, but saved some answers for his first in-person meeting with our small staff. It was better that he personally explain the enormous influx of customers with whom we would be confronted and how we were to handle ourselves during this event. Tom brought in seven professional sales designers experienced with Ethan Allen product to supplement our staff. This was a lifesaver.
Advertising. The advertising started with a strong direct mail campaign followed by heavy newspaper and TV. This media spread provided us a constant flow of quality customers.
Feeding the sale. Tom McDonald was a master at orchestrating the infusion of fresh product with special order writing and floor sample selling. Thus we were able to continuously offer the consumer a balanced product presentation. We exceeded our original sales goal of $1,200,000.00 and wrote over $1,600,000.00 in thirty days.
Conclusion. This sale was a hugely successful event. We all learned from it. Our Sales/Designers got a great new experience and perspective working with the Lynch sales professionals. Our support and delivery staff, though under a strain from the volume, were bent but not broken. Nancy and I are now looking forward to reopening this store in February 2008 as the brand new Thomasville of Madison. I highly recommend the Lynch Sales Company. Thank you.
Very truly yours,
George Heine
