Dear Jud:

When my father died, I was faced with the prospect of closing the furniture store that he and my mother had nurtured for 56 years. As someone with no experience in business, I was daunted by the task. Fortunately, as it turned out, my father and his manager had already done the research and identified Lynch as the company most likely to conduct not only an effective sale, but a dignified one in keeping with the store’s character. He was right. The Lynch Sales team performed beautifully, providing our family with a way to exit the business both gracefully and profitably.

Steve Phalor was the sale coordinator who handled our event and made sure everything went smoothly. We had a very small remaining staff, and needed assistance with a closing sale. Some of the staff were frankly a bit nervous about working with the new people not steeped in the culture of ‘their’ business. I can’t say that there were no ruffled sensibilities at all, but once the team that Steve assembled arrived and got to work, all were pleased with the ease and efficiency with which everyone worked together.

My family is very satisfied with the results. Indeed, they exceeded our expectations. Steve told us that we needed to be ready to do one month’s worth of business the first day. We did that and much more. The first week of the sale generated almost three months of revenue! And we did a significant portion of our previous annual volume in just four weeks. Following Dick Dickason’s advice, we acquired sufficient supplemental inventory to support that kind of volume. Also, his oriental rug program was extremely popular, drawing people back to the sale again and again.

We are very grateful to the Lynch Company, particularly Steve and his staff, for making the sale such a success. I would personally recommend that anyone contemplating closing their store contact the Lynch Sales Company and give them the opportunity to look at your business. I just cannot imagine a company that could do a better job.
