Dear Chris,

Byars Furniture been in business in downtown Philadelphia since 1953, making 2022 our 69th year in business. Our family owned and operated business has allowed three generations of Byars family members to provide Philadelphia and surrounding areas with fine quality furniture and appliances. We prided ourselves on serving our customers with the absolute best in customer service and one on one relationships. We financed our own accounts for the full 69 years, and helped so many individuals establish and build their credit throughout the years. It was truly a pleasure to be a part of the furniture retail world for so many years.

In June of 2022, Byars Furniture contacted Lynch Sales Company to begin the process of liquidating our merchandise. The contract was signed and dates were set. I was assigned a sales conductor by the name of Gordon Zuliani. He called well before the sale began and we started working out details for his arrival. He arrived on June 21, 2022 wearing a suit and tie and quickly learned about the Mississippi heat and humidity. I made him promise not to wear that anymore. Despite his apparel, we got straight to work. I immediately realized that he was a very organized and business minded person, and I knew we would get along great. What I did not know, was that Gordon and I would build somewhat of a father/daughter relationship. He took me under his wing from the start, and we made a wonderful team. The week before the sale was one of the hottest weeks in Mississippi in 2022, and Gordon worked side by side with my team to get all remaining merchandise onto the floor and priced. He encouraged us and never asked us to do something that he was not willing to do himself. He prepared each of my employees for what their role during the sale would be and got the store super organized in preparation for opening day.

On June 29, 2022, the Byars Furniture family opened its doors to the public for a “Great Store Closing Sale.” There were approximately 1400 people in the store that day and an absolute record breaking day of sales totaling $144,000+. I was overwhelmed at the outpouring of love and support from our community, and so thankful for all the hard work Gordon orchestrated in order for the day to be organized and successful. The sale ended after 15 short days with sales totaling $345,000+, which is about six weeks worth of normal sales. I cannot say enough wonderful things about his leadership, know how and pleasant personality throughout this entire process. He was a wonderful conductor for Byars Furniture. My dad asked me, “Is Gordon their best guy?”, to which I replied, “I can’t see how anyone could be any better.” I truly mean that statement, and I would recommend him 10 out of 10 times.

Please accept this letter as a humble and heartfelt thank you from the Byars Furniture family for making a bittersweet time in our lives more sweet than bitter. It is now time for us to focus on our families and move onto the next chapter that God has in store for us.

Sincerely,

Carly Byars Rounsaville
